The Dot Com Machine

Common questions

Updated September 10, 2026

The short version: you see your site before you buy it. We build it first, you look at the finished thing, and you decide. Everything below is in the agreement you'd sign — this page is just the plain-English version.

What if I don't like it?

Then you don't buy it. We don't take deposits, and we don't send an invoice until you've seen your finished website and approved it. If you'd rather walk away, you owe nothing and there's nothing to cancel.

What does it cost to find out?

Nothing. We build the first draft from your own public business listing, and we'll send you a link to it. There is no charge for looking, and no obligation attached to it.

Am I locked into the Care Plan?

No. There's no minimum term and no exit fee — cancel whenever you like, and the period you've already paid for runs to its end. And if the first month of your Care Plan doesn't earn its keep, tell us within thirty days of that first charge and we'll refund it in full.

How fast do changes actually happen?

While your Care Plan is active, routine changes — hours, prices, menu or service items, photographs, ordinary text — are done within two business days of you asking. Call, text, email, or use your client portal. Bigger work (new pages, a redesign, a new integration) gets a written price before anyone starts.

Who owns the website?

You do. Your domain stays registered in your name, your content stays yours, and once the build is paid in full you hold a permanent license to the site itself — keep it, change it, move it, sell it. Your Google Business Profile and any ordering or booking accounts stay yours too; we act as a manager on them, never the owner.

What if I want to leave later?

We hand you a complete, working export of your site at no charge and help you point your domain wherever you want it. We don't hold domains, content, accounts, or logins as leverage — and we won't take your site offline over an unpaid Care Plan invoice.

Will this get me to the top of Google?

We won't promise that, and we'd be careful with anyone who does — nobody controls Google's rankings. What we do guarantee is the work itself: the site, how fast it loads, the two-business-day changes, and the price we quoted.

Who is actually building it?

The Dot Com Machine is a small operation, and a real person finishes every build. Our system drafts the first version from your listing so you have something to react to instead of a blank page and a questionnaire — then a human does the rest.
